Duncan Archard

Duncan Archard

Duncan has been the conductor for the Stour Choral Society since January 2004. He trained at the Royal College of Music gaining a scholarship in his first year. Duncan has spent most of his life engaged with choirs, from his time as a chorister at Magdalen College, Oxford to leading church choirs and local choral societies.
Duncan also accompanies soloists' performances and examination work as well as being an organ recitalist. He performs recitals regularly in the UK and has played in Switzerland, South America, Italy and Germany. He has also recorded for Deutsche Grammophon.
Duncan is organist and choirmaster at Frinton Parish Church and has an extensive private teaching practice.

Stephen Smith

Music has been Stephen's life-long interest, mainly as an organist, accompanist and choral conductor. He has accompanied or conducted many works with the Stour Choral Society since moving to Manningtree in 1973. He has given organ recitals locally and in the USA and Germany, and has recently given several concerts, usually of a lighter nature, on his Yamaha concert electronic organ. Stephen also accompanies solo singers on the piano or organ, and has given many recitals with local artists.
Stephen is Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Essex, where he was Dean of the School of Science and Engineering and Head of the Physics Department.
